Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of mjtechinstitute.com and the career paths, quests, lessons, booking tools and student account (together, the "Service") operated by MJ Tech Institute (ABN 24 613 109 221) ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a school, employer or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms on that organisation's behalf.

Eligibility and accounts for minors

The Junior Web AI Engineer path and our quest courses are built to be approachable for first-time coders aged 10 and up, as well as adult career-switchers. If you are under 18 years old, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for supervising the account, agreeing to these Terms on the student's behalf, and for any purchases made on it.

You must provide accurate registration information, keep your password confidential, and notify us immediately at support@mjtechinstitute.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account. Accounts are personal to you and may not be shared, transferred or used by more than one person.

Free lessons

Every course lets you complete its first two lessons free of charge, without providing payment details. This is so you can judge the teaching style and pace before committing to a plan. We may change the number of free lessons or which content is included in the free tier at any time, effective for new access going forward.

Subscriptions and billing

Beyond the free lessons, access to a path requires an active plan: Monthly, Annual, or Lifetime. Monthly and Annual plans are subscriptions that renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle until cancelled; Lifetime is a one-off payment for ongoing access. All payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never store your full card details.

• By starting a subscription, you authorise us to charge the applicable fee to your chosen payment method at the start of each billing cycle.
• You can cancel a Monthly or Annual subscription at any time from My account. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• We may change subscription pricing from time to time. Any price change will apply from your next billing cycle, and we will give you reasonable notice beforehand so you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
• Prices are shown in USD; your card issuer may convert this to your local currency at checkout.

Refunds and cancellation

Because every course includes two free lessons, you can evaluate a path in full before paying. Reflecting this:

• If you purchase a Monthly, Annual or Lifetime plan and have not accessed any lesson beyond the free tier under that plan, you may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase by emailing support@mjtechinstitute.com.
• Once you have accessed a paid lesson, subscriptions and the Lifetime plan are non-refundable, but you can still cancel a Monthly or Annual subscription at any time to stop future billing — you keep access through the end of the period already paid for.
• We do not provide partial or pro-rated refunds for unused time remaining on a cancelled subscription.
• Free introductory calls and booking enquiries are not a paid service and are not subject to this section.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to cancel a purchase of digital content within 14 days without giving a reason. At checkout, you confirm that you want us to begin supplying the Service immediately and that, once you access a lesson beyond the free preview, you lose this cancellation right — consistent with the refund terms above. Nothing in this paragraph affects any right you have that cannot lawfully be waived.

If you are in Australia, nothing in this section limits any consumer guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law — see "Consumer guarantees" below.

Consumer guarantees

Our Service comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage; you are also entitled to have the Service re-performed or repaired if it fails to be provided with due care and skill. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy conferred on you by the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Certificates of completion

When you finish a career path, we issue a certificate of completion recognising the projects you have built and the curriculum you have worked through. These certificates reflect your progress within MJ Tech Institute's own curriculum — they are not a government-accredited qualification, a university credit, or a guarantee of employment, and you should describe them accurately as such wherever you use them (for example, on a résumé or portfolio).

Our content and your licence to use it

All lesson text, videos, animations, checklists, starter repositories and other course materials ("Content") are owned by MJ Tech Institute or our licensors. Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access and use the Content for your own learning.

You may not, without our prior written permission:

• reproduce, redistribute, resell, publicly post or share Content (including starter/solution repos) outside of your own personal use;
• use Content to train, fine-tune, evaluate or benchmark any AI or machine-learning model;
• circumvent any access control or attempt to access Content you have not paid for;
• remove copyright, trademark or attribution notices from any Content;
• scrape, systematically download, or use automated tools to extract Content from the Service.

Your code and your portfolio

You own the code, commits and projects you personally write while completing a path, including the flagship builds like The Sports Center and any capstone you relaunch as your own project. You are free to publish that code publicly, add it to your own portfolio, and present it to employers — that is the point of the Service.

If you submit feedback, suggestions or bug reports about the Service, you grant us an unrestricted, royalty-free right to use that feedback to improve the Service, without any obligation to compensate or credit you.

AI-assisted content and tools

Parts of our curriculum and lesson feedback are produced or assisted by AI tools, reviewed by our team before publication. Where a lesson asks you to direct an AI coding assistant, that tool is operated by its own provider under its own terms — MJ Tech Institute is not responsible for the output, availability or conduct of third-party AI tools you choose to use while completing a lesson. AI-generated guidance can occasionally be incomplete or incorrect; you remain responsible for reviewing and understanding any code before you ship it, exactly as the curriculum teaches.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• break any applicable law, or infringe another person's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
• harass, bully or victimise another user, including in any community or discussion feature we make available;
• upload or transmit malicious code, or attempt to interfere with the security or normal operation of the Service;
• create multiple or automated accounts to repeatedly claim free lessons or trial access;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with MJ Tech Institute;
• use the Service in any way that could disable, overburden or impair it for other students.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section, at our reasonable discretion and, where practical, after notifying you.

Third-party links and tools

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party sites and tools — for example GitHub, deployment platforms, or AI coding assistants referenced in lessons. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, security or practices of those third parties. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, including the Acceptable Use section, after taking reasonable steps to notify you where practical. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we work hard to keep lessons accurate, the platform reliable and the AI-assisted guidance useful, we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that completing a path will lead to any particular job outcome. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties other than the consumer guarantees described above that cannot be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject always to the consumer guarantees described above, MJ Tech Institute's total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the Service or refunding the amount you paid for the plan giving rise to the claim in the twelve months before it arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including loss of profits, data or opportunity, arising from your use of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify MJ Tech Institute and our officers, employees and contractors against any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal reasons. We will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the effective date above; where a change materially affects your rights, we will give you reasonable notice by email or through a notice on the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and MJ Tech Institute agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia to resolve any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in the country where you live.
