What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device to remember information about your visit. We also use similar technologies such as browser local storage, which our lesson player relies on to keep track of where you are in a course. This Cookie Policy explains what we use, why, and how you can control them.

How we use cookies

We keep our cookie use deliberately narrow — MJ Tech Institute is a learning platform, not an ad network. We use cookies and local storage for three purposes:

• Strictly necessary — to keep you signed in between visits, remember your place in a lesson, protect against cross-site request forgery, and load the correct pricing/checkout state. The Service will not work properly without these.
• Functional — to remember your preferences, such as which lesson you last opened or whether you have dismissed a banner.
• Analytics — via Google Analytics, to understand in aggregate which pages and lessons are used, how long a typical chapter takes, and where students drop off, so we can improve the curriculum. Analytics cookies do not identify you by name.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not run retargeting or ad-tracking pixels on the Service.

First-party and third-party cookies

Most cookies on the Service are set by us directly (first-party) or by our authentication provider, Supabase, to manage your session. When you subscribe to a plan, our payment processor Stripe sets its own cookies during checkout to prevent fraud and remember your payment session; those are governed by Stripe's own cookie and privacy policies. Google Analytics sets third-party cookies for the analytics purpose described above.

Session and persistent cookies

Some cookies (session cookies) exist only until you close your browser; others (persistent cookies) remain for a set period so that, for example, you stay signed in the next time you visit. We use both — session cookies for security tokens during checkout, and longer-lived cookies to keep you signed in and remember your lesson progress.

Managing your cookie preferences

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or clear cookies when you close the browser. Because strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in and track your lesson progress, blocking them will mean some parts of the Service — such as resuming a course or completing checkout — will not work correctly.

To manage or opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the Service evolves — for example, if we add a new analytics or payment provider. We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above.
